Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 19 February 2023

Grumbling against our leaders is grumbling against God. The Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron at the Desert of Sin (vs.1-2). They remembered their so-called abundance in Egypt but forgot the hardships they went through as slaves and their cry for deliverance. They murmured, insisting on going back to Egypt. Despite all that God had done for them, they were quick to lose faith in God. What is your attitude in the face of challenges? Like the Israelites, do you grumble against your leaders and against God? And do you easily forget all that God had done for you? God decided to test their obedience.

When pressure comes your way, learn to turn to God rather than to grumble or murmur. God responds to the Israelites’ distress by sending them quail in the evening and a sweet bread – like granular substance in the morning (vs.14,31). We must learn to put our trust in God alone. God gave the Israelites the bread from heaven every day to satisfy their physical needs (vs.14-16, compare Psalm 78: 24 – 25). Jesus compares Himself to manna in John 6:30-35, 48-51. He is our daily Bread who satisfies our eternal and spiritual needs. He gives us eternal life.

Practice/Word Application
AND SO?I’m feeding on that Living Bread!
I’m drinking at the Fountain Head!
And who so drinketh, Jesus said
Shall never never thirst again (SU Chorus).

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Oh Lord, help me to always feed on this Living Bread that gives eternal life.
