Scripture Union Daily Guide 3rd April 2021 Message – Identifying With Jesus In Time Of Risk
TOPIC: IDENTIFYING WITH JESUS IN TIME OF RISK
Opening Prayer: Grant me depth of insight, revelation and knowledge as I meditate on this passage, O Lord.
Scripture: Matthew 27: 57-66
Question(s) for Reflection:
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE 3RD APRIL 2021 MESSAGE OUTLINE:
At the close of the activities for the day, Jesus’ body was still hanging on the cross. It was looking like His body had been abandoned by everyone but then someone showed up to take His body for burial. Read vs.57-60 again. What can we learn from Joseph’s action? Though a rich man and a member of the Sanhedrin, he was not ashamed to identify with Jesus at such a moment.
He used his influence to serve God’s purpose, not minding that it could negatively impact his status in the society. He took responsibility for everything that was needed for Jesus’ burial. By his action, he provided the most authentic evidence for Jesus’ resurrection – the empty tomb. What a challenge? What do you think of the action of the religious leaders in comparison to that of Joseph (vs.62-64)?
Are you a disciple of Jesus? How are you using your position and influence in your workplace and community to serve Jesus? What risk are you willing to take and what sacrifices are you making for the glory of His name?
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
• Lord, help me to stand for you even when it is risky to do so.
• Thank God for His provisions through your work place or business and ask for more productive week ahead
Prayer For The Week:
Pray for victory in Christ Jesus over sicknesses, death, fear, intimidation, physical and spiritual challenges. Pray for grace to keep believing in the finished work of Christ. Pray for The Apostolic Faith.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalm 3:8
• Prov. 30-31; Heb. 5
