Scripture Union Daily Guide 7 October 2026 Outline

All blood, especially human blood, is sacred to God. When a human blood pours on any ground, such a ground is under the curse of God. This curse could be removed only by the execution of the murderer. Where the murderer cannot be identified, the whole community remains guilty for the murder of the innocent person until the instructions in Deuteronomy 21:3-7 are followed (cf. Numbers 35:33-34).

What challenges does the Church face as we witness (and sometimes experience) bloodshed all over our nations today? On one hand, there is the joy that the blood of the martyrs slain by persecution is the seed for the growth of the Church; on the other, there is the challenge of interceding for our land.

In war, women captives were to be treated with respect (Deuteronomy 21:11-14). The ceremonial cleanliness in Deuteronomy 21:12 signified that the woman had to put away her religion and nationality to become an adopted Israelite.

The God of Israel was careful to regulate how children from polygamous homes were treated. Children do not determine who gives birth to them and therefore would have to be treated fairly in all circumstances (Deuteronomy 21:15-17).

God does not tolerate rebellion of children against their parents (Deuteronomy 21:18-21). How should Christian parents apply the principle behind God’s instruction for purging such evil from the society?
