SCRIPTURE: Deuteronomy 28:1–14
1If you fully obey the Lordyour God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lordyour God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lordyour God: 3You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. 4The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock?the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. 5Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. 6You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. 7The Lordwill grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. 8The Lordwill send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lordyour God will bless you in the land he is giving you. 9The Lordwill establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lordyour God and walk in obedience to him. 10Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. 11The Lordwill grant you abundant prosperity?in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground?in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you. 12The Lordwill open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13The Lordwill make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lordyour God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.

Question(s) for Reflection:
• Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?

TODAY’S OUTLINE: SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL 21ST FEBRUARY 2021 SUNDAY

To be blessed is to receive and enjoy divine help, favour and protection. One of the deepest longings in man’s heart is to receive blessings from the Lord. Note the conditions for obtaining God’s blessings (vs.1-2). To fully obey the Lord and carefully follow all His commands is what many of us are struggling with (cf. King David in 1 Kings 15:5). How can we overcome all the actions and attitudes that prevent us from obeying God?

Carefully read vs.3–13 and in your notebook, write the area or scope of God’s blessings for those who obey Him. You will see that God’s blessing is all-embracing. No area of life is left outAll true blessings come from the Lord (vs.1, 7-13). Many people run from one man of God to another, from one prayer house to another etc, in search of blessings.

True blessings from God is not in laying on of hands, pronouncement from a powerful man of God, giving fat offerings or pouring of anointing oil, etc. It is received from God when we fully obey Him, and carefully follow His Word. As Moses assured the Israelites of God’s blessings if they obey God, the Lord will bless all who fully obey Him today. How obedient are you?

Practice/Word Application:
• What Next? Reflect on Psalm 119:1-6

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer:
• Turn Psalm 119:1-6 t0 prayer.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with I John 2:20 – But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

Bible Reading: Ex. 12-13; 1 Thess. 2
